Benefits of Treatex
FAQ
Technical Information

“The strongest selling point for Treatex (Hardwax Oil) is that it nurtures the timber.

Polyurethane sits on top like a plastic bag, so if you get a break in the plastic the water seeps into the timber and discolours it.
Treatex is a wax and the wax penetrates the timber to water-proof it. I would especially recommend Treatex in water areas, such as a kitchen. I love the look of the Treatex finish as well.”

TIMBER
is a living material endowed with many beneficial assets. It is durable and helps keep room temperature constant, regulates humidity, creates a natural ambience to transform your home into a comfortable, healthy living space.

Although HARDWAX OILS are new to Australia, they have been developed and tested in Germany and are backed by 50 years accumulative experience in the European and British floor finishing market. They are becoming the floor finish of choice throughout Europe and the USA where 90% of timber coatings are non-toxic and eco aware.

Unlike most existing products available in Australia our waxes are based on

Frequently Asked Questions
Does It Scratch?
YES. Any timber floor can scratch. However it does have a hard surface and simple preventative measures will keep your floor looking good.

Will It Discolour?
NO. However, timber will change colour with age and excessive sunlight.

Will It Flake, Blister or Peel?
NO. One of the biggest advantages of using wax is that it is absorbed by the wood and does not form a surface skin.
The wood is able to breath and move naturally, therefore, the wax will not flake, blister or peel.

Is It Easy To Maintain?
YES. Simply keep it swept or vacuumed.
The advantage is that wax floors can be spot repaired easily and most scratches or marks will disappear.

How Long Will It Last Before It Needs Replenishing?
This depends on the usage of the floor and how well it is kept clean.
Using a simple maintenance plan will give you a good-looking floor for many years.
Remember certain marks are spot repairable and even if you do need to replenish your floor it does not need to be completely re-sanded.
